Alexandra David-Néel (28/10/1868 – 08/09/1969)

A traveler and scholar of the Orient, especially of Indo-Buddhist doctrines. She lived alone for fourteen years in India, China, and Tibet. Her most famous feat was entering the Forbidden City of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, in the winter of 1923 after months of walking. She was the first Western woman to succeed in this endeavor.

Viaggiatrice e studiosa dell’Oriente, in particolare delle dottrine indo-buddhiste. Soggiorna per quattordici anni da sola tra India, Cina e Tibet. La sua impresa più celebre fu quella di entrare nella città proibita di Lhasa, capitale del Tibet, nell’inverno del 1923 dopo mesi di cammino.
